Janet Melrose

Janet uses playful repetitive processes both to inform and make her work. She enjoys the finding of and use of discarded and recycled materials which she folds, stitches and fashions into small objects. She regards these objects like offerings to protect and contain thoughts. Janet has been using chance, serendipity and happenstance to inform and shape her recent work. She enjoys the interplay and possibilities which working with different materials offers.

Janet is a member of The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour, Society of Scottish Artists and Visual Arts Scotland.

Janet’s work is held both in Private and Public collections and has been the recipient of a number of awards.
